About The Advanced Studies In Culture Foundation
The Advanced Studies in Culture Foundation was established in 1995 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization to support the work of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. For over thirty years, ASCF and its individual and institutional partners and supporters have enabled the Institute to explore contemporary cultural change and its individual and social consequences.
Through the Institute, Foundation resources fund basic and applied research to educate the public and key societal leadership groups about the nature and challenges of late-modern society; to conduct inquiry into humane and democratic responses to these challenges; and to maintain the physical, financial, and human resources necessary to continue this work.
Our Development Philosophy
The Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture is dedicated to advancing a deeper understanding of the cultural forces that shape our shared life and the conditions that allow individuals and communities to flourish. We pursue this work guided by the ethos that rigorous scholarship and thoughtful leadership can strengthen the foundations of a healthy and vibrant democratic society.
To safeguard the integrity of our mission, the Institute maintains a firm commitment to intellectual independence and nonpartisanship.
Your partnership plays a vital role in sustaining innovative scholarship, developing the next generation of thinkers and leaders, and advancing humane and forward-looking responses to the challenges of our time. We would be grateful to have you join us in this important work.
